Dozens of organizations and thousands of people have benefited from the free services and donations of Project Life in Guyana throughout the years.
Teaming up with Raleigh North Carolina USA based non- profit organisation, Victory International, Project Life once again brought smiles to the faces of locals through their charitable efforts. The group conducts outreaches in Guyana annually.
During their Mission Trip 2018, the team led by US- based Guyanese; Dr. Mark S. Vasconcellos coordinated a dental and medical outreach via various local institutions and communities.
Other members joining Dr. Vasconcellos included Pastor Joel Beckham, Denise Edwards, Noel Faulkner, Linda Faulkner, Hannah Faulkner, Melonie Gupton, Teresa Long, and Brittany Williams.
Over the period of one week, dozens of patients at Enterprise, East Coast Demerara benefited from free medical attention.
With the assistance of a local doctor, patients were treated for various symptoms, including high blood pressure, acid reflux, diabetes, skin infections, upper respiratory tract infection, and urinary tract infection.
Patients in need of dental care were seen by the staff of the Cheddi Jagan Dental Centre.
Patients seen also received free medication and tooth brushes sponsored by the efforts of Project Life, a Guyanese-based non-profit organization under the leadership of Mr. Vibert Parvatan.
Local organizations including the Palms, Ivy Hall Memorial Home, Christian Life Center, The Georgetown Rotary Club, Guyana Society of the Blind, F. E. Pollard Elementary School, New Nazareth Home of St. Vincent De Paul, also benefitted from the collaborative effort between Victory International and Project Life.
Additionally, the team also visited local churches preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Dr. Vasconcellos emphasised the reason they are dedicated to serve was because of their relationship with their Savior Jesus, who came to serve and not to be served.
The demographic on which Dr. Vasconcellos continually focuses are the poor, elderly, prisoners, children in primary and secondary schools, as well as the physically and socially disenfranchised, such as the blind and orphans.
He has had the opportunity to travel to many countries throughout the years, including Brazil, Canada, Thailand, England, Nepal, India, Bhutan, Israel, Vietnam, and other countries. As he prepares to travel next to the African Continent, he emphasized that the work in Guyana will continue to be fruitful for God’s glory.
Dr. Vasconcellos’ prayers are that in spite of the economical downturn in many countries, the faithful servants and supporters will continue to remember those who have been forgotten. He is eternally grateful for the opportunity to serve, not only with Victory International and Project Life but also as an Ambassador for his faith. He is scheduled to return to Guyana later this year.
