Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, yesterday disclosed that Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo successfully underwent heart by-pass surgery in the United States of America. “Prime Minister Nagamootoo is resting and recovering with Mrs. Sita Nagamootoo, his children and other family members by his side,” a statement from Minister Harmon’s office said.
“Prime Minister Nagamootoo is expected to make a full and complete recovery in the coming weeks before returning to Guyana. The Government of Guyana wishes Prime Minister Nagamootoo well as he recuperates and extends its support to Mrs. Nagamootoo and the family during the recovery process.”
According to Minister Harmon, the Government of Guyana, on its “own behalf and on behalf of the people of Guyana” is appreciative to the surgeons, doctors, nurses and other medical professionals in Guyana and in the United States who provided “excellent” care to the Prime Minister.
The PM left earlier this month for the US after local doctors found issues with his heart.
Yesterday, on his Facebook page, his wife, Sita Nagamootoo and children, had this to say: “We would like to thank everyone for your prayers and would also like to inform you that our dad (Prime Minister Nagamootoo) is out of surgery and is in recovery. Surgery was successful and we will keep you informed. Thank you all again for your prayers.”
