The Guyana Rugby Football Union has shortlisted a 23-man squad including six reserves to begin the defence of its Rugby Americas North (RAN) 15s title against Barbados this Saturday, at the Garrison Savannah, Christ Church, Barbados.
Guyana is the South Zone champions and will be going all out to commence the campaign with a positive start against the Bajans who they defeated 48-17 last year.
The ‘Green Machine’ lost to Mexico in the Regional RAN 15s Championships game, but will no doubt be hoping to go all the way this year.
The team which departs tomorrow will be captained by Ryan Gonsalves, who has performed that duty before, but was replaced by Trinidad and Tobago-based Richard Staglon.
Staglon, who will be returning after serving a suspension, has been named as his deputy.
Elwyn Chase will serve as the Manager, while Kenneth Grant- Stuart is Head Coach with Olsen Olivierre as his Assistant.
