A 54-year-old Superintendant of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) was relieved of his firearm, jewellery and other articles after a lone gunman entered his home some time around 21:00hrs Monday night.
Irwin Trotz, of Lot 1212, Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, was sleeping when the suspect gained entry via the front door whilst his daughter, Melissa Trotz, was watching television.
The man reportedly ordered the young woman to lead him to her father’s room where he woke Trotz and demanded that he hands over his firearm and valuables.
The police officer was relieved of his 9mm Taurus Pistol, 20 live matching rounds, a quantity of jewellery valued at $1.7M and two Iphones valued at $280,000. The suspect then made good his escape.
The matter is currently being investigated.
