Was Sherwin Lynch slain while attacking a passerby, or was he killed by an associate?
These are the questions that detectives have been asking about the baffling death of the 19-year-old from Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara.
Lynch’s body, with stab wounds to the chest, left arm and let thigh, was found on the Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara Railway Embankment at around 20.30 hrs last Wednesday.
Kaieteur News understands that an associate of Lynch alleged that the teen had attacked a man who was walking along the embankment, and that the man stabbed him. He had even given police a description of Lynch’s alleged assailant.
Police had detained Lynch’s friend, but subsequently released him, reportedly after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions advised them to conduct further investigations.
Police have no information that implicates Lynch or his associate with any criminal activity.
