Approximately 8:30am yesterday morning, Travis Evans who is serving time at the Camp street prison was allegedly attacked by fellow inmate Colin Alleyne and another unidentified prisoner.
The attack is the latest in a series of such incidents in the prison as prisoners are able to fashion makeshift weapons despite the apparent stringent checks by prison guards.
A reliable source within the prison stated that Evans was standing at one of the doors when the two men attacked him with a “cutlass” made out of a piece of metal bed frame.
After the attack, Evans was taken to the prison infirmary where he received treatment for a fractured shoulder and wounds about his body.
It is not too clear what actions have been taken against the two persons who are responsible for the act.
While it was reported that Evans did not have any problems with the two men, when questioned by police officers he had refused to give a statement.
Prison authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation since they expect retaliation.
