Guyana (Lawn) Tennis Association (GLTA) Secretary Ms. Elizabeth Persaud and Treasurer Ileana Boodhoo paid a courtesy call to Mr. Bish Panday, CEO of P & P Insurance Brokers to receive the sponsorship cheque
for hosting the 11th annual GLTA Junior Tennis Camp.
Mr. Panday and wife Mrs. Ahilya Panday, both of whom embraced the GLTA from the time of its reestablishment in 2004 to produce the most popular junior tennis camp each year, were delighted to sponsor the event once again. This is especially because the camp usually attracts at least 70 children many of whom enjoy the activities and continue to play the sport.
Mr. Panday also encouraged the GLTA executives to actively garner support for improved tennis facilities to boost tennis development locally, given that there is a new administration. He pledged his continued support for junior activities to provide safe and healthy recreational activities.
The camp which is geared for children aged 6-18 years will be conducted during weekdays from Tuesday July 7th to Saturday July 11th and from Monday July 13th to Friday July 17th. Children 6-11years from 9:00am to 11:00am at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue. Children 12-18years from 12:00noon to 2:00pm at the National Racquet Centre at Woolford and Camp Streets.
Fees per child is $3,000 for the two week period. Registration is being done by telephone by contacting 624-1739. All parents are asked to be present to complete registration with fees at 8:30am on Tuesday July 7th at the National Gymnasium prior to the Opening Ceremony.
