Police have arrested a man, who is believed to be of unsound mind, after he attacked and stabbed two brothers around 16:30 hrs yesterday on Water Street, Georgetown.
The brothers, Alex Layne, 37, and Arlo Layne, 33, of Lot 544 Good Hope, East Coast Demerara were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) by public spirited people.
Arlo Layne sustained one stab wound to his forehead, one to his right side shoulder and another to his right palm.
His sibling was stabbed once to his left abdomen and once to his left hand.
Up to press time both men were being treated in the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit.
According to information received, both men who are vendors on Water Street were selling when the mentally ill man attacked the older Layne.
There are reports that the younger sibling intervened and he was also attacked.
Investigations are ongoing.
