Entries for the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc. (GSCLI)\ National Sports Commission Republic Cup will be closed on January 31. The tournament is set to start on February 14 and will consist of two categories, Open and Over-40.
Secretary of the GSCL Inc. Samuel Kingston said that teams desirous of competing in the Over-40 division are required to submit a copy of each player’s identification.
The drawing will take place on a date and venue to be announced later. Teams that have so far confirmed their participation are Farm, Regal, Trophy Stall and Wolf’s Warriors in the Open category while Bartica, Regal Masters and Frontline have confirmed participation in the Over-40 segment.
The winning team in the Open category will take home G$1M, a trophy and medals and the champions of the Over-40 division will receive $600,000, a trophy and medals. The Man-of-the-series for both categories will be given a three piece living room suite and the Man-of-the-match of the final, $10,000 and a trophy.
Entrance fee for the open category is $140,000, while those who wish to do battle in the Over-40 segment will have to pay $120,000.
