A man said to be of unsound mind was on Monday evening arrested by police at a famous Charity night club with an unlicenced .38 revolver gun and three live rounds.
The man was identified as 30 year-old Michael Benn of Charity, Essequibo.
According to the police, at about 19:55 hrs, officers on patrol at Charity, Essequibo Coast, arrested Benn who had in his possession one Taurus .38 revolver and three live rounds along with one spent shell.
The police further stated that at the time of the arrest and seizure Benn was on the Charity Public Road, in front of Xenon Disco with the gun in his hand, discharging rounds in the air.
Meanwhile, a reliable source told this publication that Benn was seen pacing in the vicinity of the night spot, acting in a suspicious manner.
The source added that the man then pointed the gun in the direction of the night spot and began discharging a number of rounds, which had scores of party goers scattering for cover.
The source further added that when Benn was intercepted by police officers he was placed on the ground and the weapon was found in his waist.
The source further claimed that while in custody the man told police that he was going into the night spot to shoot two men whom he claimed were involved in the death of his brother two years ago.
Benn is currently in police custody and is expected to be charged shortly.
