K&B Mining and Hardware Supplies announced that it will be continuing its support of the 59th edition of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Inter-Division Track and Field Championships that is expected to commence this weekend with the Road Relay.
Accountant at the K&B Mining, Seeta Husain, on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Mining Company, Hema Persaud, stated that it is one of the corporate obligations of the company to contribute to social development and sports development.
“We are pleased to support this competition. We believe that it’s part of our right to help develop certain aspects of society. This is not the only event we have supported and will continue to give our support once we are satisfied that the gesture is right,” Husain said.
Police Sports Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Colin Boyce, indicated that he is pleased that K&B Mining has decided to continue to sponsor one of the most prestigious meets on the annual athletics calendar.
“On behalf of the Guyana Police Force, I am extremely grateful for your unyielding support of the Police Athletics Championships. With your contribution, the Police Force has continued to churn out champions that have gone on to make Guyana proud,” he said.
The Guyana Police Force is celebrating its 174 Anniversary and 59 years since the existence of the athletics meet. The first event for the competition, the 10km mixed road relay, will be staged this weekend.
The event that has an ‘A’ and ‘B’ category will continue with the heats next week with the grand finale next Friday. Guyana will take on its Caribbean counterparts in the ‘A’ Class competition while the ‘B’ Class contest is the Inter-Division competition.
