Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon, on Thursday has advised that Cabinet on Tuesday, last, offered its “no objection” to 21 contracts in the Public Works and Housing and Water Sectors.
For the Public Works Sector, $19.4M was granted for the execution of slope protection works at Johanna Cecilia on the Essequibo Coast, Region Two.
The sum of $90.6M is slated for the construction of 250 metres of rip-rap river and sea defense at Hampton Court, Region Two, and $101.1M for the construction of the same for 280 metres at Aurora, Region Two.
Meanwhile, there was $49.9M granted for the construction of 130 metres of rip- rap river and sea defense at Zeelandia, Wakenaam in Region Three, and $111.3M was allotted for the construction of 290 metres of rip rap river and sea defense at Enterprise, Leguan in Region Three.
Also, $261.8M has not been objected to for the construction of 730 metres of rip- rap river and sea defence at Louisiana, Leguan, Region Three.
In addition, $19.6M has been slated for the supply and delivery of boulders at Cane Garden, Leguan, Region Three.
In the Housing and Water Sector, a number of contracts have been awarded for the construction of roads, drainage structures and the installation of pure water supply.
At Plantation Uitvlugt, Region Three, it is divided into four lots with each lot receiving a different amount of money.
There has been $107M granted for the first lot, $98M for the second, $97M for the third and $82.8M for the fourth lot.
Similarly, $23.7M was granted for the construction of roads, drainage structures and installation of pure water supply at Success, East Coast Demerara, Region Four.
Meanwhile, $111.7M is slated for the same type of works at La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, Region Three and $79.7M for Onderneeming, Essequibo, Region Two.
Also, $69.08M was allotted for the construction of roads and drainage structures, and the installation of pure water supply at Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara, Region Four.
Dr. Luncheon stated that for Plantation Farm Phase One, East Bank Demerara, Region Four, there are four lots.
There has been $175.4M granted for the first lot, $184.4M for the second, $226.7M for the third and $230.7M for the fourth lot.
In Bartica, Region Seven, the construction of roads, drainage structures and installation of pure water supply will be done in two lots.
In the first lot, $138.9M has been granted and $113.4M for the second lot.
