Dear Editor,
The results of the November 28 polls has so shattered the credibility of Vishnu Bisram and exposed his suspected manufactured biasness towards the incumbent PPP/C Government that he has offered shallow explanations to dissipate the deceptions and humiliations he invited on himself.
He has so far proferred at least three reasons to his misleading, erratic and flawed polls and analysis.
(1) Moses Nagamootoo joining the AFC, taking the PPP votes. Though I once wrote that Nagamootoo’s joining the AFC would be the final nail of their demise, I now believe that his alliance may cost the PPP votes as the plastering combusting garage of results and derogatory attacks i.e. Nunakaran, Judas may have turned away lots of prospective, weak, and undecided voters to scorn the AFC.
(2) Bisram then postulated that the PNC, now APNU and AFC did better effective ground work. This is obviously being dishonest as not only Guyanese but persons worldwide are aware of the massive persuasive campaign in bribes, give away megawage increases, incessant media, abundant vodka and cranberry, spending millions on workforce and posters on every electricity and telephone posts and mega bill board, aggressive house to house pleadings and even threats in some cases, to other party supporters.
It is rubbish to say the PPP did not do enough for there was a relentless and persuasive assault on towns in both urban and rural interior areas where bribery was the order of the day. The glorification of the PPP was unprecedented; Bisram ought to try a better divertive tactic.
(3) Bisram’s recent cover is behind CN Sharma, assuming that the votes CN Sharma would’ve gained went to APNU, since he aligned with that coalition. It is not likely that Sharma would have attracted substantial votes, considering his numbers in the previous elections and the obvious racial connotations and the PPP mesmeric hold over the gullible and vulnerability. Sharma probably sent PPP supporters to the AFC camp, not APNU. These fragile shields are not good enough for Bisram to exonerate himself and maybe land a prestigious position with the PPP government. Try some other Mud thing later.
The reason for the PPP defeat is one that I had written previously- the PPP has messed up too much. The party now has a chance in President Ramotar who has impressed me after listening to his media approach and to other criminally implicated matters.
I wish the new President, great success and that Guyana develops rapidly having all the requisites, primarily with a caring, intellectual leader. He must now rid the government of corrupt elements, having them around would be counter-productive and disastrous.
M. Sookraj
