– occupant injured
By Latoya Giles
Fire of unknown origin yesterday destroyed the upper flat of a wooden house at Lot 17 Owen Street Kitty, leaving one person with minor injuries.
Kaieteur News was told by neighbours, that the house was occupied by a young man known only as “Stevie”.
According to neighbours, the man’s mother died about two months ago and since then he was living alone.
Neighbours could not give details about the occupant, since according to them, he kept to himself.
One woman told Kaieteur News that she heard a loud explosion sometime after midnight and seconds later saw flames emanating from the house.
The fire service was called and arrived promptly, while the injured man was taken to the hospital.
Investigations are still continuing into the matter.
