A Contract has been awarded for the construction of a primary school at La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara in the sum of $39.06M, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon, stated yesterday at his weekly press briefing.
Other contracts that were given no objections by Cabinet include an award for the rehabilitation and construction of the acute care psychiatric hospital in Fort Canje Berbice it has been granted in the sum of $112.7M. He noted that training of psychiatrics will be done to fill the void for the specialist.
Also in the health sector an award was given for the supply and delivery of equipment for the health centers in four lots, the amount granted was $100M which would be divided for the four lots.
He explained that most of the institutions deal with maternal, antenatal and diabetic childbirth care; this will also cover equipment needed to conduct clinics.
Dr Luncheon said that an award was also given for the supply of water distribution mains in the Foulis Housing Scheme in the sum of $34.4M.
Cabinet also gave its no objection for an award for the procurement for firefighting equipment for the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) flagship, GDFS Essequibo, in the sum of £41,000.
