Meanwhile, judging from the preparations that have been ongoing, Guyana anticipates a frenetic battle against the usually strong Suriname contingent, while T&T are not being taken lightly according to word emanating from the local camp.

Guyana will be defending home turf and from all reports some of the best drag racers in their respective countries will be descending on these shores to challenge the Guyanese.
The local contingent which is anticipated to be a strong one will be led by Rondel Dabi and also includes Ernesto Choo, Aaron Bethune Afraz Ally, Syed Ali, Danny Persaud and Sanjay Persaud among others.
According to an insider, the Surinamese who were expected to begin arriving in Guyana last evening will be coming stronger than previous years and in the absence of the now deceased Raymond Ally, who was last year’s Most Outstanding Driver, they’ve indicated that they will be sending a formidable team to defeat the locals and Trinidadians.

He will be supported by the likes of Jimmy Chin Konkiem, Oliver Lip Shee and Jacob Yacoob.
The day promises to be one of exhilarating action and with the track recently resurfaced fans are being urged to converge at the Circuit to witness some exciting daredevilry and fast races.
President of the GMR&SC Rajendra Boodhoo speaking via telephone last evening said that the prospect of foreign competition is enlightening for the sport.
He also assured that safety is a key part of tomorrow’s proceedings, while promising a scorching day of racing
