… Sophia baby’s death
The 12-year-old lad who was detained since last Wednesday following the death of a 17-month-old baby in Sophia has been reunited with his family.
The child’s mother, Sonia Drayton, told this newspaper that on Sunday when she went to take meals for her son she was told that he was free to go home but that he is required to make regular check with the police.
Meanwhile this newspaper was told that the toddler, Rolandzo Hunte, was laid to rest yesterday. The toddler’s grandmother who was also detained and up to press time yesterday was still in police custody. This newspaper was told that the woman is expected in court today.
Last Sunday the toddler was reportedly struck in the head with a piece of wood hurled by a woman who was trying to prevent a neighbour’s child from entering the yard.
The child died two days after the incident. A post mortem later revealed that the toddler died of a fractured skull.
