An unidentified man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, last evening, the victim of a hit and run at the junction of Brickdam and Brummel Place in the vicinity of the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company office and the United Nations office.
The sound of a vehicle colliding with an object sent security guards running onto Brickdam just in time to see a man being hurled in the air and the car continuing along its merry way at great speed. It was shortly after 20:00 hours
They summoned the police who arrived promptly and rushed the man to hospital where his condition was said to be critical.
The man was rushed for emergency surgery while the police have mounted a hunt for the vehicle.
Just recently, another speeding car struck a pedestrian, this time a woman who was walking along the parapet of the Diamond access road. Again the accident involved a hit and run driver.
The woman died and a man has since come forward to proclaim that an overseas-based relative was driving his car.
This victim was described as a tall man of African ancestry.
