The question of who “would be going to St Cuthbert’s mission” led to Ricky Kissoon suffering head injuries that landed him at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Yesterday, the semi-conscious Kissoon at the hospital was able to relate that every year during Heritage Month, the extended-family would go to St Cuthbert’s Mission.
However, this year, the budget for transportation didn’t cater for one of Kissoon’s cousins. This angered the child’s father, Desmond Nobreiga, and caused him to behave violently towards Kissoon’s mother.
A scuffle followed, and upon witnessing such violence against his mother, Kissoon intervened and was dealt a blow with a wood to his head by Nobreiga which caused him to collapse into a state of unconsciousness.
Relatives related that the flow of blood was so continuous and copious we were afraid if the ambulance didn’t arrive so timely he might have died.
Kissoon’s father, who was reluctant to share his take on the incident, did state that his brother is in police custody and a court hearing is pending against him.
