– car impounded
Police have detained a suspect and seized a car following investigations into last Friday’s robbery in which Canadian seaman Christopher Olsen was beaten and shot.
Kaieteur News understands that the suspect was detained after being positively identified as one of the bandits who shot and robbed the 40-year-old Canadian in the vicinity of Water and Holmes Streets.
The vehicle the bandits allegedly used has been impounded at the Brickdam Police Station.
According to reports, Olsen had just disembarked from a vessel and was walking in the vicinity of Water and Holmes Streets when three men in a car attacked him.
Olsen was beaten and shot in the right arm before being relieved of a bag containing an undisclosed sum of cash, a passport, credit cards and cell phone.
The bandits then escaped in their vehicle, which had hire car licence plates, while Olsen was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. He has since been discharged.
