Ishwar Khemraj, 39, was shot at about 22:30hrs on Monday as he was walking along Zeeburg Sideline Dam, East Bank Essequibo.
According to the police, Khemraj was walking when it is alleged that a man discharged a loaded shotgun at him, hitting him in the left arm and left hip.
He has been admitted a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. His alleged assailant has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
