White (4-11), Devers (4-25) lend support
An entertaining unbeaten century from 21-year-old Jermaine Reynolds and four wickets each from off-spinner Wilfred White and Ricardo Devers fired Ghandi Youth Organisation (GYO) to a five-wicket victory against Transport Sports Club (TSC) in a feature cricket match at the GYO ground yesterday.
Reynolds, whose only other previous century was scored at the under-19 level for West Berbice against Bush Lot, helped GYO to 205-5 off 29 overs as they replied to the 204 all out in 33 overs made by TSC.
Reynolds reached his century with his seventh six and also smashed nine fours in his innings on a slow track as he added 132 for the fourth wicket with Guyana under-15 Captain Kwame Crosse who made 57 decorated with eight fours and three sixes.
Oronday Dawson chipped in with a cameo 26 towards the end as left-arm spinner Leon D’Aguiar (2-56) and medium pacer Shamar Moore (2-17) were the most successful bowlers for the visitors.
Opener Kevin Alphonso reached the boundary nine times in a solid 44 and added 58 for the fourth wicket with Shane Chase (23) after the pair had joined forces at 44-4 while Dameon Ross (29) and Leon Clarke (27) also contributed with the bat for TSC on the tiny Woolford Avenue ground.
The 64-year-old White, Guyana oldest first division cricketer and Devers, who celebrated his 16th birthday last week, combined to take eight wickets between them as White had 4-11 and Devers, a 2007 Demerara under-15 player, 4-23 for the winners.
