Kaieteur News – After leaving a bar at New Road Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara (WCD), in the wee hour on Friday, a 32-year-old man was tracked down by police and later nabbed with an illegal firearm along with ammunitions along Crane Old Road (WCD).
The man has been identified as Samuel McIntyre, a self employed resident of Bagotville, West Bank Demerara. According to a press release issued by police, at about 02:30hrs, ranks acting on information received, trailed a Toyota Allion car bearing registration #PAE 2420 from a bar located at New Road Vreen-en-Hoop. Notably as the vehicle entered Crane Old Road, WCD, police indicated to the driver to stop. Upon stopping the vehicle, ranks approached the driver and reportedly told him that they received information that he is allegedly carrying an unlicensed firearm. Subsequently, ranks requested for a search to be conducted to which McIntyre agreed. Whilst searching the motorcar, a 9mm Taurus pistol and a magazine containing eight live matching rounds of ammunition were found.
Thereafter, police took possession of the firearm and ammunitions and told McIntyre of the offence committed. He was cautioned, arrested and escorted along with the firearm and ammunition to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station.
