Nineteen-year-old Lennox Roberts was on Tuesday charged for the murder of a Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) employee David Gentle, a resident of Haslington, East Coast Demerara.
Gentle’s body was found with neck almost severed, near a bridge at Haslington, East Coast Demerara in September.
The 19-year-old defendant who is a labourer appeared before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court. He was remanded to prison for the offence.

According to information, on the day in question, around 01:00 hrs, Gentle was imbibing at a shop and he told some individuals that he was following three men who he suspected were involved in illegal activities.
While being at a bar for a Karaoke session, Gentle got into a confrontation with another patron. Gentle reportedly left that location sometime around 01:30 hrs.
At around 05:30 hours the next morning, a woman who was heading to work came across the gruesome sight of Gentle’s mutilated body at the edge of a bridge.
