The Wakenaam Cricket Committee is set to commence their new season shortly and according to its Secretary Nazeer Mohamed there are two tournaments to be completed.
Mohamed told Kaieteur Sport that the Birbal Constructing Establishment T20 final is set for September 29 at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground, while the Mike’s Pharmacy and Trophy Stall U19 40-over tournament will continue this weekend. Both tournaments were put on hold due to the recent inclement weather.
Good Success and Sans Souci Jaguars have qualified for the T20 final following victories in their respective semi final games, while the U19 tournament is being contested by Sans Souci/Good Success/ SS Jaguars, G Square Cavaliers, Zeelandia/Maria’s Pleasure and Noitgedacht SC.
Mohamed indicated that they are currently cutting the centre ground and the committee is in the process of starting another senior T20 competition shortly, adding that they are in the process of soliciting sponsorship.
Good Success, who defeated Sans Souci in their semi final game, will rely on the likes of Tulsieram Ramadeen, Mahase Ramnarine, Vickram Ramnarine, Bhumeshwar Ramkissoon, David Chalitar, Nazeer Mohamed, Imran Khan and Wazir Khan. Sans Souci Jaguars, who overcame Maria’s Pleasure in their semi final encounter, will depend on Safraz Mohamed, Beesham Moses, Nokta Moses, Siddiq Mohamed, Gladwin Henry, Zameer Zaman and Derwin Daniels.
The Wakenaam Cricket Committee consists of seven clubs; Good Success, Sans Souci, Sans Souci Jaguars, G Square Cavaliers, Maria’s Pleasure, Noitgedacht SC and Zeelandia.
