A fine all-round performance by Cherryann Fraser guided Guyana’s Under-19 Girls to a one wicket win over Windward Islands in the second round of the Regional Invitational U-19 tournament yesterday in Trinidad and Tobago.
Batting first at the National Cricket Centre, Windward Islands were bowled out for 84 in 17.2 overs. T. Thomas got 21 and T. Dickson made 18. Shenika Grimmond claimed 3-8 and Cherryann Fraser 3-9.
Guyana responded with 85-9 in 18.4 overs. Fraser struck 41 with four fours while Shabika Gajnabi made 16. J. Gasper claimed 3-29 and Q. Joseph 2-7.
At Gilbert Park, Barbados were limited to 59-7, taking first strike. A. Santlebury made 16 and Shai Carrington 14; R. Farrow had 2-12. Trinidad and Tobago Girls replied with 62-2 in 10.2 overs. A. Gomez made 16.
FIRST ROUND
At the National Cricket Centre, Couva, Batting first, Guyana mustered 91-7 with skipper Shabika Gajnabi being the only batter to reach double figures scoring 49 while extras supported with 17 as L. Ramdeen, A. Gomez and S. Soogrim claiming two wickets each.
Trinidad and Tobago scored 92-1 in 14.5 overs in reply. S. Abdool slammed an unbeaten 50 while A. Gomez made 18 not out.
At Gilbert Park, Windward Islands took first strike and managed 126-4. Q. Joseph made 48 while J. Joseph got 22; Shanute Carrington claimed two wickets. Barbados replied with 31 all out in 14.2 overs. J. Glasgow grabbed 5-4 and S. Jack 2-1.
