The United States Embassy in Georgetown yesterday said it is pleased to welcome Fulbright U.S. Scholar, Jennifer Hoyte to Guyana. Chargé d’Affaires Bryan Hunt met with Ms. Hoyte on Wednesday last, and expressed his appreciation to the Fulbright Program for its reactivation in Guyana after a 20-year hiatus.
The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program sends U.S. scholars and professionals abroad to lecture or conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.
Jennifer Hoyte holds a Master of Science in Computer and Information Science from Ohio State University. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics Education at Florida International University.
As part of the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program, Ms. Hoyte will be teaching Philosophy and Issues in the Teaching of Mathematics at the University of Guyana for the first semester of the 2015-2016 academic year. The course will focus on how teachers can be more reflective and will cover topics such as Classroom Management, Pedagogy, and Enrichment activities for the Secondary School mathematics classrooms.
The Fulbright Program was established in 1946 under legislation introduced by late Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas and is sponsored by the United States Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).
