One of Guyana’s bright young prospects, Team Coco’s Stephano Husbands, just graduating
from the junior ranks, recorded his first win yesterday in the feature 35-lap school boys and invitational contest of the National Sports Commission (NSC) sponsored 11-race Meet at the National Park.
In pedaling to victory, Husbands clocked One Hour 18 Minutes 32.02 Seconds, leaving in his wake the likes of Paul DeNobrega (Team Alanis), Orville Hinds (Team Evolution), Mark Harris (Roraima Bikers Club), Walter Grant-Stuart and Paul Choo Wee Nam who ended in that order.
Following are the results from the other races yesterday. Sherwin Sampson was once again dominant and unstoppable in the BMX Boys 9-12 and 12-14. In eth 9-12, Jonathon Jagdeo was second with Jeremiah Harrison, third while in the 12-14 contest, Sampson was followed to the line by Adealia Hodge and Jagdeo.
Alexander Leung topped the field in the BMX 6-9 event crossing the line ahead of Christopher Goring and Esau Jaisingh. In the 12-14 Boys and Girls race, Daniel Perreira took the win from Davenand Kapilnauth and female Marica Dick of Berbice.
Romello Crawford sprinted to victory in the juvenile 10-lap showdown, winning from Jamal John and Christopher Griffith, while in the mountain bike 5-lap clash; Seon Budhan crossed the line ahead of Clyde Jacobs and Toshua Cummings.
In the veterans races, the dominant Junior Niles had to settle for second best this time around as he lost to Jaikarran Sookhai in the Under-50 contest, Ralph Williams was third. In the Over-50 segment Linden Blackman was the winner with Wilfred Thom taking a similar accolade for the Over-60’s.
