A truck driver is currently nursing several stab wounds at the Georgetown Public Hospital
Corporation (GPHC), after he was assailed by his brother-in-law, on Saturday last.
According to the wounded Satrohan Gocool, he was attacked “unexpectedly”, when his brother-in law approached him from behind and dealt “more than 10 stabs” to his abdomen around 21:00 hours.
Gocool, 41, said that the stabbing resulted from an “old domestic problem”.
He said that his brother-in-law and sister-in-law occupy part of the two-storied residence where he lives with his wife, at 623 Diamond New Scheme, East Bank Demerara.
He noted that his mother-in-law gave the residence to his wife, his sister-in-law and his brother-in-law before she passed away a few years ago.
The truck driver said that his brother-in-law, Shaieed Juman, has been arguing with his wife and sister-in-law over the past year, “to sell the house”.
He noted that Juman was refused by his sisters every time he proposed to sell their home.
Gocool insisted that the stabbing occurred because Juman believed that he persuaded his wife and sister-in-law not to sell the house.
The truck driver was rushed to the Diamond Hospital and was later transferred to GPHC, where he is currently a patient.
He said that the matter was reported at the Diamond Police Station and his brother-in-law is currently in custody.
