A well played innings of 87 from Heeralall Bridgelall guided Shieldstown to a 108-run victory over
Rosignol United which enabled the former to end tie with D’Edward and Blairmont Community Centre following Zone C preliminary round play in the 2011 New Building Society Second Division 40 over cricket competition in Berbice.
Having the best run rate of the three teams, Shieldstown got the nod by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) to advance to the last-16 playoffs of the competition.
Bridgelall’s 87, which included 8 fours and 4 sixes helped Shieldstown to a challenging 245 for 8 in their 35 overs after which pacer, Riaz Imam took 4 for 27 from 7 overs and off spinner Mohamed Baksh, 3 for 13 from 4 overs to restrict Rosignol to 137.
In another match played in the same Zone, pacer, Deveshwari Prashad, first took 3 for 26 to help Blairmont Community Centre bowl out Zone favourites, D’Edward for 165 in 33.3 overs. When Blairmont replied, Prashad came back with the bat to score 70 which set the platform for D’Edwards upset win over Blairmont by 3 wickets.

Rosignol United 137 in 28 overs; Thomas McDonald 27, Riaz Imam 4 for 27, Mohamed Baksh 3 for 13 and Mark Anthony 2 for 15.
At Blairmont – Blairmont Community Centre beat D’Edward by 3 wickets. D’Edward 165 in 33.3 overs; Jaipaul Heeralall 36, Derick Narine-Lalsa Jr. 28, Deveshwari Prashad 3 for 26, Shabbir Baksh 2 for 20, Derick Narine-Lalsa Jr. 2 for 35 and Akram Rahaman 2 for 38. Blairmont Community Centre 167 for 7 in 34 overs; Deveshwari Prashad 70, Nick Ramsaroop 39 and Kevin Jawahir 4 for 30.
