A 28 year-old woman from the United States is currently under guard at a city hospital after she was nabbed at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, early Friday morning.
According to reports the woman was about to board a flight at around 05:40 hours on Friday when she reportedly confessed to ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit. This publication was told that while the woman was about to have her luggage searched she began sweating profusely and acting nervous.
However the search on her luggage came up empty handed.
After a brief questioning the woman confessed to ranks that she swallowed some 20 pellets packed with cocaine. She was brought to a city hospital where an x-ray revealed that she had indeed swallowed the pellets.
She has since been given a laxative and has passed out some 18 pellets. Up to press time yesterday the woman was still hospitalized under guard.
Charges are likely to be instituted by Monday.
