A post mortem examination performed yesterday by Dr. Nehaul Singh confirmed that 17-year-old Ravindra Persaud died from a fractured skull.
Persaud’s body, with his skull bashed in, was found early Tuesday morning a few metres from a No. 10 Village, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara wedding house he had visited the night before.
While no one saw what led to Persaud’s death, investigators had suggested that he was struck in the head by someone with a blunt object. Yesterday they returned to the scene of the crime and again questioned several persons, including relatives of the deceased who had already given official statements.
Kaieteur News understands that one of the relatives had hinted that Persaud might have angered someone at the wedding house while he was dancing.
However he has not yet given a statement to that effect.
Additionally, police are working on another theory that there was an earlier rukus at the wedding house involving other persons, and Persaud’s death may have been a case of mistaken identity.
Persaud was having a good time at the wedding house until he disappeared when he left to go outside, probably to urinate.
Nine hours later, his lifeless body was found lying on the parapet not far from where he was last seen dancing with family and friends.
Investigators have ruled out robbery since Persaud’s cellular phone and $2000 were found in his pocket and his gold stud earring was still in his ear when his body was discovered.
Hit and run has also been dismissed as no signs of a vehicular accident was observed anywhere near the scene.
