The body of Gansham Pooran, a 29-year-old man, was discovered in an abandoned refrigerator that happened to be sitting in a Canter truck by his eldest son, Avishkar Pooran, Tuesday evening.
Avishkar had gone in search of his cricket bat.
Nalisha Samdass, the dead man’s ex-wife, said she and her two sons, Avishkar and Vishkash Pooran, were all at home when the body was discovered. They had seen him the day before.
Samdass, explained that she and Pooran had separated almost three years ago. She said that Pooran was an epileptic and someone who consumed alcohol on a regular basis. She recalled that her ex-husband and her two sons would often engage in the game of cricket in the afternoons. On Tuesday, while Avishkar, was making preparation to engage in the friendly sport once again and he went in search of his bat. It was then that Pooran was discovered dead in the refrigerator.
“I put the bat away in the abandoned refrigerator and when Avishkar remembered where it was, he went in search of it and made the discovery,” the woman said.
Samdass said her ex-husband, usually found refuge in the abandoned canter, for he was unemployed. “If he was not somewhere drinking, he would be seen sitting in the canter.”
After the discovery was made, Mrs.Samdass noted that her son, Avishkar, alerted her and a report was made at the Anna Regina Police station.
