The Work Services Group of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications will be launching its complaints hotline and website by May month-end. This was revealed at the Ministry’s recent Engineering Conference held at the Guyana International Conference Centre, Liliendaal.
The Works Ministry is one of the main agencies which executes large-scale road, bridge, and sea defence construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation works across the country. Hence, it receives a large portion of the national budget yearly, Rickford Lowe, Head of the Work Services Group indicated.
This year, the Ministry was allocated $13.2B and has commenced executing works across the country.
Information concerning the various projects that the Ministry is undertaking would be available on the website. In addition, like the hotline, that would allow complainants to share their grievances. Comments can also be sent to the website.
This initiative was taken to allow direct feedback from citizens, to ascertain information on affected areas and to minimise cost and time.
