E-Networks Inc., one of the leading institutions in the Information Technology Sector, maintained its support for the upcoming President’s/Jefford Track and Field Classic II when the company handed over a sponsorship cheque.
The presentation took place at the company’s Camp Street office yesterday where one of the Coordinators of the event, Edison Jefford collected the sponsorship cheque from the company’s Assistant Marketing Manager, Christel Vansluytman.
Speaking briefly at the presentation ceremony, Vansluytman said that the Company was pleased with the feedback they received about the staging of the Classic, which from all reports, was one of the best athletics events.
She said for that reason, they decided to once again return on board. E-Networks is one of the largest Information Technology companies in Guyana and the first to introduce the 4G Network in the country.
In accepting the deal, Jefford thanked the entity for its continued support, adding that this year promises to better the standard and quality of competition, especially with the much anticipated arrival and participation of Guyana’s most recognised athlete, two-time Commonwealth Games medallist, Aliann Pompey.
“We have already secured Ms Pompey’s commitment to compete here in Guyana for the first time in the New Millennium since she has had so many successes. She is scheduled to arrive in Guyana on May 19,” Jefford told Kaieteur Sport.
He said that he can understand the satisfaction of E-Networks with the high level of the competition because it is one that always attempt to achieve what no other track and field event in Guyana tries, which is its most enterprising feature.
“The whole idea of the President’s/Jefford Track and Field Classic is to have athletics in Guyana that mirror what occurs internationally. The aura, the hype and the prestige of our athletes competing before an audience are things we treasure,” he concluded.
