The top sixteen teams will battle for supremacy when the various teams contest the final day of the Super Sixes cricket tournament this Sunday October 17 at Everest Ground, Eve Leary.
This inaugural tournament, organized by the Guyana Tapeball Association, an affiliate of the Guyana Softball League, enters its final phase and the top sixteen teams will go head to head to become the countrywide champions, in the process carting off a grand prize of $500,000 donated by GT&T and a huge trophy, compliments of PSC Wireless.
Much excitement is anticipated in the tournament which has attracted some two hundred and twenty seven teams nationwide in the six overs a side matches.
There have been numerous surprises during the preliminary stages with the favourite teams being unseated while the level of determination and application has been noteworthy.
Activities get underway in the match preceding the final with a media team tackling a GT&T 7. There will be lots on offer as the sponsors will use this opportunity to promote their respective products. There will also be giveaways and the public is invited to come out in their numbers to partake of the goodies.
The fixtures are:
Everest ground: Super sixteen stage starting at 09:00hrs, Alliance 7 (West Bank champions) take on Kris International Bravados ‘A’ (East Bank Champions)
In game two, Mahaica Super Stars (Upper East Coast Champions) will; battle Die Hard (West Coast Berbice Champions).
Game three action will see Kris International Bravados “B” (East Bank Finalist) up against Classic “A” (Linden Champions) while in game four Brutal Jammers (West Coast Dem. Champions) play Aurora Knight Riders (Essequibo South Champions)
In game five, Phone Paradise (Georgetown Champions) battle Trophy Stall Better Hope (Lower East Coast Champions) shortly before Kris International Bravados ‘C” (West Coast Finalist) opposes Wakenaam Heroes (Wakenaam Champions).
Celebrity Times (East Berbice Champions) versus Pomeroon Oil Mills (Pomeroon Champions) will feature in game seven while in game eight action Lima Sands (Essequibo North Champions) tackle Vipers 7 (Georgetown Finalist)
The winners advance to the latter rounds.
In a highly anticipated action packed encounter, the Media 7 will tackle a GT&T 7 in an exhibition match.
The Super Sixes is sponsored by GT&T in collaboration with R & M Shipping, Regal Stationery and Computer Centre, Imran and Sons, GTM, Babulal Mining, PSC Wireless, GNSC, Kris International, Trophy Stall, Anil Wireless; Cell phone Shack and Namilco. Activities are organized by the Guyana Tapeball Association in collaboration with The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
