Suriname throws out challenge to Guyana
Come Sunday when the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club host its first Drag Meet of the year, all eyes will be on the anticipated rivalry between Guyana and neighbouring Suriname which will be represented by as much as 30 cars with the Black Typhoon driven by Hance Yzer.
According to President of the club Aaron Bethune, Yzer has already thrown out a challenge to all the Guyanese competitors.
Bethune added that this Meet will be one of the biggest staged locally and he is urging all motor racing fans to come up at the South Dakota Circuit and witness the action as competitors vie for the title of who is the best drag racer. The president further disclosed that six categories will be competed in and they are as follows:
Group A: 0 – 1600 cc; Group B: 1601-2000cc; Group C: 2001-2200cc; Group D1 Unlimited Class for 4-wheel driven cars above 2200cc and those cars with Nos; Group D2 Unlimited Class for 2-wheel driven cars above 2200cc and those with Nos; and an Open Class for Super Bikes.
A multiplying factor of 1.4 would be applied to the cc of all force induction cars to determine their placement.
The first race of the day commences at 10:00 hrs and admission is $1,000, while children and vehicles are free.
