A former Immigration Officer was yesterday placed on $70,000 by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, on a charge of forging one entry stamp in a Guyana passport for Edward Drakes.
It was alleged that Keon Luther, 23, of 3472 Jacksonville, North Ruimveldt committed the offence on May 21, 2008 at Timehri with the intent to defraud. He pleaded not guilty and was unrepresented.
The defendant told the court that he was never involved in any criminal matter before. He said that he was a student at the University of Guyana, is married and is expecting his first child.
There was no objection to bail by the prosecution. The accused is expected to make another court appearance on March 5.
