Camptown continued their dominance of Fruta Conquerors with yet another win, when they downed their rivals 2-0, as play in the Cellink Premier League continued on Friday evening at the Tucville ground.
Goals either side of play by Sceon Hope and Rishawn Sandiford guided Camptown to victory and to the top of the table with 18 points, the same as defending champions Alpha United.
Friday’s opening act produced an epic battle between Georgetown Football club (GFC) and BK International Western Tigers who played to a 3-3 draw. Devon Millington, who opened the scoring in the 8th minute of the game, completed a double with an 87th strike, which earned the Tigers an equal share of the spoils after GFC’s Peter Parks’ brace threatened to take his team to victory.
Parks netted in the 18th and 79th minute for the Bourda Blues, who’s other goal came off the boot of Ansil Leach in the 52nd minute. Western’s secured their third goal through a 61st minute conversion from Rayan Thomas.
Camptown, who ended as the runner-up team to back to back champions Alpha United, secured their sixth win in seven matches to date. Hope rocked the nets in the 35th while Sandiford closed the deal six minutes into the second half.
Alpha, still the only team to taste defeat so far in the league, will have the opportunity to be the lone leaders, when they match skills with second placed Guyana Defence Force (GDF), on 15 points in tonight’s main event at the same venue.
Setting the pace for the evening will be the Pele, Flamingo clash, from 18:00hrs.
