Thirty-five young women are beneficiaries of scholarships thanks to US-based
Guyanese Dr. Maureen Webster. The scholarships were handed over to the youths at an event dubbed ‘A Give Back Ministry’ held last Saturday at De Impeccable Banquet Hall on Brickdam.
It is Dr. Webster’s mission to serve as many young women, as she believes that motivation and encouragement are the tools to success, and coupled with education, can open many doors.
“My focus at this point in time took me to various hospitals and shelters where I ministered to God’s people on the island of Barbados, the birthplace of my grandparents. However young women are my main focus and by means of encouragement, if I can assist one young woman to be the best she can be, I say to God be the glory.”
She continued, “I was not born privileged, but my heavenly father categorized me as part of a
royal family of which he is the King of Kings. This has given me the confidence to know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Dr. Webster explained that as one reaches the age of reasoning, which is not necessarily a numerical factor, they come to realize their purpose on life.
“At this point, your focus begins to change and you question yourself as to what is your true purpose. Such an awakening was realized by me in my early twenties and I began to be a missionary for Jesus Christ.”
Webster holds a Doctorate in Theology and a Bachelor of Arts and Masters in Business Administration.
