Over 150 children now have access to swings, slides and seesaws at Lochaber Primary
School and Orealla Nursery School due to the generosity of the GAIL Foundation Inc and its donors.
United States-based Attorney Gail Seeram, founder of the Foundation, was present in Guyana for both handing over ceremonies.
After becoming aware of the need for outdoor playground equipment at both schools, Ms. Seeram launched a successful fundraising campaign in Orlando, Florida. Many Guyanese and non-Guyanese in the Diaspora responded to the effort in raising the required $1.4 million.
GAIL Foundation Inc. says that its focus is on children and the entity’s core mission is giving the “gift of play”.
“Play is important for children as it improves attention and memory, boosts children’s morale, keeps them happy, promotes physical exercise and enhances social skills,” Ms. Seeram emphasized.
GAIL Foundation Inc. has previously donated over $5 million to various orphanages, schools and children homes in Guyana. Among those who received assistance are the Mahaica Children Home, Red Cross Children’s Home, the Guyana Relief Council Shelter in Georgetown, Bless the Children Home in Industry, E.C.D. the New Amsterdam Special Needs School, and the Children of Eden Orphanage in Smythfield New Amsterdam.
