Relatives of a 56-year-old Albouystown man are appealing for his safe release from a group of men that they say snatched him from his home at around 18.00 hrs on Wednesday last.
Ryan Khan, a fisherman, of 147 Cooper Street Albouystown, was allegedly abducted by eight men, who arrived at his home in four white cars.
The relatives told police that Khan, who was on his verandah at the time, was forced at gunpoint into a white, heavily-tinted Toyota Premio. Prior to this, the men allegedly took him into his house to retrieve some clothing.
Kaieteur News was told that calls to Khan’s phone went unanswered until Thursday evening, when a man who answered said: “If I don’t get my diamonds, I’ll kill him.” That was the last time any contact was made to the man’s phone.
The relatives said that they heard Khan yelling in the background during the call. On the day he was kidnapped, he was wearing a yellow jersey, camouflage pants and hat and a pair of brown slippers.
A report has been lodged at the Ruimveldt Police Station.
