People who leave these shores for whatever reason always look back at the country they left.
Most return home with donations for the various organisations and social groups. Some donate to the medical facilities; some bring medical services and some pay close attention to the education system.
The relatives of the late Egbert Grosvenor rewarded the top performers of the Two Miles Primary School, Bartica, recently. The occasion was the Grosvenor Memorial.
Grosvenor lived at Four Miles, Bartica-Potaro Road with his wife and children. He worked with Transport and Harbours Department. When he retired, he served on the Village Council.
He migrated in the 1980s and lived in Jamaica, Queens, New York, but he never forgot Bartica. He was the founder of the Bartica Association in New York, each year hosting the Bartica Reunion that raised funds for facilities in the community.
This time around, his relatives donated two computers to the top performers at the National Grade Six Examinations, Nixon Williams and Rehanna Simon. Making the presentation was Deryck Grosvenor, the nephew of the late Egbert Grosvenor. The ceremony was held at the Two Mile Primary School.
On hand was headteacher, Bernadette Williams.
