Recently accredited US Ambassador Perry Holloway told Minister of Communities, Ronald Bulkan, that the US is willing and ready to provide assistance in the area of housing and renewable energy—particularly in the hinterland communities.
He expressed these remarks during a meeting on Wednesday at the Minister’s office on Fort Street, Kingston. Also present were Permanent Secretary, Emile McGarrell, and US Political and Economics Counselor, James Bjorkman.
Ambassador Holloway and Bulkan reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining friendly relations. During the cordial discussions, the officials reiterated the mutual respect shared by the two countries, and promised to continue to co-operate on various issues.
Minister Bulkan thanked the US officials for assistance provided over the years and expressed gratitude for continuing offers of support.
It was recalled that issues relating to renewable energy and housing had been major planks of the APNU+AFC campaign agenda, which have now been adopted as part of government’s comprehensive developmental policy.
