DEAR EDITOR,
First, I just want to express my pleasure and relief at there being a new Government in Guyana. It has been three years since I submitted an application to the Land Registry at Durban Backlands for the transfer of a property I purchased. During those three years it was pain and stress. So much money and time was lost in numerous visits. I spent so much on taxi fares and phone calls. It was in the thousands of dollars. And who can put a price on time?
There was definitely a problem in that office, sometimes I would give up and turn to my God in prayers. I lost a part of life, because I wanted to start building my house as soon as possible.
Every time I called the office I could never get to speak to the person in charge – always at a meeting or out of the office. All you are told is to check back in two weeks’ time. I am a person of patience so it did not bother me too much, but not everybody is like me.
One thing I admired when I called or visited was that the staff was so helpful and full of smiles; you could see that they understood your frustration.
I cannot forget three persons I interacted with: Mr Naresh, Mr. Andy and a female staffer whose name I don’t know, but she is of Amerindian descent.
I just want to say thanks to them and hope that the new Government will see that their employment is guaranteed.
People are criticizing this new government but they are still new to a lot of work related issues. I see a new and productive Guyana in the next three years.
I want to thank Mr. Joseph Harmon for going personally into that office and putting things in place, and also installing the right person for that job. I can say I am happy and blessed to have received my document.
Just to say thanks to the new government headed by its faithful and hardworking President David A. Granger, and his loyal Prime Minister Moses V. Nagamootoo. To Guyana, I want to say God bless our beautiful country. A change has come in 100 days.
Satisfied Citizen
