A man accused of breaking into a woman’s home in Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara and carting off
with over $760,000 in cash, jewellery and other valuables was granted bail when he appeared in court yesterday.
Rolwyn Boston, 26, of Second Field, Kaneville, East Bank Demerara was granted $150,000 bail on a Break and Enter and Larceny charge by Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
He was charged with breaking into Grace Innis’ home on June 19, last, and making off with a gas bottle, computer, DVD player, PC Tablet, two bottles of cologne and $175,000 cash. The items listed in the charge amounted to $766,400.
The facts of the case were not revealed in court but Police Prosecutor, Corporal Seon Blackman objected to bail citing the value of the articles and the punishment attached to the crime. He revealed that the police are investigating similar matters where Boston is the suspect.
Boston was granted bail and the case is set to be called again on October 22, at the Providence Magistrates’ Court.
