Justice Sandra Kurtzious granted an injunction on Tuesday prohibiting the entire Executive of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) from acting in the capacity of GCB Executives. The Berbice Cricket Board challenged the validity of the elections of the GCB held in January 2013 and observed by the West Indies Cricket Board WICB’s Imran Khan, Paul Slowe and Conde Riley. The Judge also barred all of the defendants from representing Guyana on the WICB.
Kaieteur Sport yesterday published that a stay of execution was granted to the defendants to file an appeal. This is erroneous and incorrect because there is no stay of execution and the order took effect from Tuesday when it was entered by Lawyers Rex H. Mc Kay S.C., Fitz L. R. Peters and Sandil S. Kissoon.
It is clear that no stay of execution was granted and instead the Hon. Madam Justice Kurtzious further ordered that the matter must take its normal course. When contacted yesterday by Kaieteur Sport, this was confirmed by Roysdale Forde’s office. Forde is the Lawyer representing the GCB in this matter.
