Play in the Scotiabank/Pepsi School Football Academy is set to kick off tomorrow with a male and female game in the Bauxite Mining Town of Linden.
Mackenzie High and Linden Foundation will match skills in both encounters starting with the female game at 14:30hrs followed by the male at 16:00hrs at the Wisburg Secondary School ground.
On Sunday, the focus will switch back to the City at the Ministry of Education ground when the female players will take centre stage. From 10:00hrs, North Georgetown Secondary and St. George’s High will oppose each other followed by a clash between New Campbellville Secondary and Christ Church from 11:30hrs.
Action in the Ancient County of Berbice is set to resume next Thursday.
Meanwhile, in matches played last weekend, on Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground, Queen’s College defeated Bishop’s High 2-0 with goals coming off the boots of Michael Hunter in the15th minute and Ashmar Angel in the 42nd minute.
In Linden on Friday, Wisburg Secondary needled Linden Foundation in a female game, Cliffona Hunter doing the honours in the 45th minute.
In the male clash, Wisburg Secondary hammered Linden Foundation 3-0. Joel Isaacs in the 25th minute, Jonathan Copeland 29th and Leyon Jones in the 48th minute were the goal scorers.
On Saturday, New Silver City females also won by a 1-0 margin over Wismar/Christianburg Secondary, Roshana Grandison netting in the 11th minute.
In the male encounter, New Silver City got past Wismar Christianburg Secondary 3-1. Tramani Cole (31), Sherwin Davidson (59) and Shane Haynes one minute later were the players on target. New Silver City got their consolation goal from Keysham Dey in the 24th minute.
