Post mortem confirms Berbice wife killer drank poison
A post mortem examination performed on the body of New Amsterdam, Berbice wife killer, Narendra Thakoor, has confirmed that the man did drink poison after hacking 28-year-old Bhanmattie Bacchus to death.
Thakoor died at the New Amsterdam Hospital, minutes after he was rushed there from the Central Police Station lock-ups where he was being held following the brutal murder of the mother of two of his children last Wednesday. He later told police that he had ingested the poison.
However when he was taken to the hospital, he was sent away by medical personnel there who claimed that he was okay.
Hours later, while in police custody, Thakoor started to vomit, and was immediately rushed back to the hospital where he eventually succumbed.

Bhanmattie Devi Bacchus was attacked and chopped about her body with a cutlass by Narendra Thakoor last Wednesday at Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Meanwhile, the cause of death of 70-year-old Jasmattie Pooran of Guava Bush, Albion, Corentyne, was given as suffocation.
Pooran’s body was found in her home with her hands tied and mouth gagged on Saturday last.
