The body of a Fryish, Corentyne fisherman was early yesterday recovered in the Albion Channel after his boat capsized at sea some time Monday.
Reports are that 53-year-old Hemchand Dowlatram’s body was found at around 10:00 hours yesterday.
The dead man’s wife, Inmattie Gopaul, told this publication that her husband and his brother Naimchand Dowlatram, 42¸ left for a routine fishing trip at around 05:00 hours on Monday.
However at around 15:00 hours the woman said other fishermen informed her that they had found her husband’s boat at sea in the vicinity of ‘Four fathoms’ but no one was in it.
It is believed that the two men encountered extremely rough waters and the boat capsized. A search was immediately launched, but rough waters prevented the rescue team from getting close to the vessel on Monday evening.
However yesterday the rescue team returned to sea and continued the search, during which Hemchand Dowlatram’s remains were found. Up to press time the other man had not been found.
